Preheat oven 300F. Sift flour, baking soda, and salt. Cream butter and sugars till well blended. Scrape sides down. Add eggs one at a time. Add vanilla. Blend well. Gradually add flour mixture to butter mixture at low speed just till mixed. DO NOT OVERMIX. Stir in chocolate chips. Drop rounded tablespoonful onto an ungreased cookie sheet, 2 inches apart. Bake 22-25 minutes or until golden brown. Transfer immediately to a cool surface.
