Abstract
Abstract The monoterpenes from green leaves and fresh rhizomes of Curcuma longa L. grown in India have been analysed by GC and GC‐MS. With the exception of the absence of myrcene, the leaf oil largely resembled the Nigerian counterpart. The rhizome oil did not contain β‐pinene but had all the other components of the leaf oil in different proportions. Of interest is the fact that the rhizome volatiles included car‐3‐ene, α‐terpinene, γ‐terpinene and terpinolene.
