Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering in Food Security

Abstract
To address food insecurity and environmental sustainability, a broad spectrum of agricultural approaches must be integrated. These include conventional breeding (even using mutagenesis), biotechnology, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), organic and inorganic fertilization, soil management, agro-ecology, and responsible pesticide use. No single method is sufficient on its own to achieve this aim. Improving food production efficiency through biotechnology, precision farming, and sustainable agricultural practices is essential. Additionally, minimizing food and agricultural waste can help maximize the use of available resources, ensuring that more people are fed without increasing environmental strain.
