Abstract
The advancement of nanotechnology has opened up innovative possibilities for improving food packaging materials, enhancing both the shelf-life and safety of food products. This article explores the application of nanotechnology in food packaging, focusing on nanomaterials' role in enhancing barrier properties, antimicrobial activity, and overall sustainability. By incorporating nanoparticles such as silver, chitosan, and carbon nanotubes into packaging materials, significant improvements have been achieved in food preservation, contamination prevention, and environmental impact reduction. The potential benefits and challenges of adopting these technologies in the food industry are discussed, along with current regulatory frameworks governing the use of nanomaterials in food packaging.
