Nanotechnology in Food Spoilage Prevention

Abstract
The global food industry faces significant challenges in ensuring the safety and quality of perishable foods. Food spoilage results in substantial economic losses and poses health risks to consumers. Nanotechnology is the current trend for food preservation. The nanoencapsulation of antimicrobials has led to the inhibition of foodborne pathogens. Nanocomposite coatings and films containing particles like silver and zinc oxide have shown increased antimicrobial activity. In addition, rapid detection systems utilizing nanosensors are being explored as spoilage indicators, allowing timely actions at the earliest signs of spoilage to minimize food loss.
