Recent Progress on Metal-Organic Framework Sensors for Detection of Grain Contaminants

Abstract
Grain contaminants pose serious hazards to human health and have emerged as a growing global concern. There is an urgent need to develop cost-effective, facile, rapid, and reliable analytical methods for grain contaminant detection. Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) as a class of crystalline porous materials have attracted increasing attention in recent years for their potential in detecting grain contaminants due to their high porosity, large surface area, structural tunability and facile functionalization. This review focuses on the development of MOF-based sensors, including fluorescent, electrochemical, surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS), and colorimetric sensors, for the detection of grain contaminants such as pesticide residues, mycotoxins, and other harmful substances.
