Abstract
ABSTRACT Food packaging is a critical component of the food industry, as processed food cannot be utilized, transported or distributed without proper and effective packaging. According to the World Packaging Organization (WPO), in 2021, over 25% of food was wasted due to inadequate packaging. This highlighted the necessity of implementing efficient packaging solutions within the food processing industry to reduce food waste significantly. The increasing demand from consumers for high‐quality and safe food products has driven the need for advancements in packaging technologies. Traditional packaging materials such as paper, plastic, metals and glass are widely used in food packaging due to their desirable properties, including durability, flexibility and barrier effectiveness.
