Prepare Jell-O according to package directions and chill. Crush vanilla wafers, enough to make about 3/4 cup, and mix with about 3 tablespoons melted butter. Press in bottom of pie pan. Stand whole vanilla wafers around the edges. With electric mixer, whip chilled Jell-O. Just as it begins to thicken, whip chilled evaporated milk and then combine with Jell-O. Add pineapple, pour into pie shell and chill.
