In a saucepan, melt the butter in the milk. Set aside. Beat eggs until light. Add sugar and continue beating. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together on waxed paper or in a bowl. Gradually fold into egg mixture. Add hot milk all at once. Stir just until smooth. Pour into 2 greased 9-inch pans. Bake in a preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes. Coconut icing is great on this cake.
