Cook green beans slowly on stove or in slow cooker with water and beef bouillon cube. Add the ham and onions. Add bacon, if desired. When beans are just about done, approximately 2 hours, add 2 to 3 cups of potatoes, cut up. Add pepper to taste. Keep water level up. Cook until potatoes are done, approximately 1 more hour. Serve with Italian bread. Yummy.
