Remove chile stems, seeds and bad spots. Rinse chiles in cold water. Soak chiles in cold water 1 to 2 hours, until pods are tender. Place chile in blender with 1 to 2 cups water. Blend chile until it resembles tomato sauce in consistency. Saute onion in butter. Add chile and seasoning to onion. Simmer 1/2 hour. Makes 1 quart.
