Add cucumbers to water with lime mixed in. Soak for 24 hours. Rinse. Soak for 3 hours in clear water; drain. Mix sugar, vinegar, salt and spices and add cucumbers. Leave overnight. Drain out syrup and heat syrup to a boil, then add cucumbers and cook for 45 minutes. Put in jars and seal. (Add a little green food coloring to make them look pretty.)
