Crumble sausage in frying pan. Cook over medium heat, stirring until sausage is done; drain. Split bread horizontally lengthwise, but do not cut all the way through. Spoon sauce over cut surface of bread. Top with sausage. Sprinkle with cheese evenly. Close bread sandwich-style. Wrap in foil. Bake at 350° for 15 to 20 minutes. To serve, unwrap. Cut into thick slices. May use spaghetti sauce in place of tomato sauce.
