Grease and flour a 10-inch (26 cm) Bundt or tube pan. Whip egg whites until foamy. Add salt and sugar gradually, beating until peaks form. In another bowl, cream together the butter and remaining sugar. Beat in yolks gradually. Add orange juice. Combine flour, baking powder remaining salt and cardamom. Add to butter mixture alternately with mashed bananas. Blend in egg whites gently. Turn into prepared pan. Bake in a 350° oven for about 1 hour and 15 minutes. Let cool 10 minutes before removing from pan. Makes 10 to 12 servings.
