Hybrid Extrusion-Spheronization

Combines extrusion and spheronization to produce uniform microbeads for controlled-release encapsulation or nutrient-fortified foods.

Technical Description

A wet mass (typically 15-25% moisture) is extruded through a dome-shaped die (0.5-2 mm openings) at 20-50 rpm, then spheronized on a friction plate (800-1200 rpm) for 2-5 minutes to form spherical pellets (500-1500 µm diameter).
